Capitalism: A Love Story 

Let me start by saying I'm Micheal Moore fan and enjoy his perspective on this and other issues that have affected our country.  After watching the first half of the movie in class, I went home and finished it.  Capitalism: A Love Story digs deep into the financial crisis that corporate greed caused in 2008.  I was impressed with his well-rounded story that included interviewing citizens who had lost their homes and jobs to members of Congress who fought against the bailout.  His use of humor mixed with anger tells the truth about capitalism and how it destroyed our country.  

I was shocked to find out companies could take out what's called "dead peasant" insurance policies on employees to be paid out as executive bonuses should the employee die. It was at this moment I realized how greedy the corporate world is.  They should be ashamed of their selves!!  

At the end of the film, Moore refers to hurricane Katrina and wonders why bad things happen to the poor.  I think there is a lot truth in that, I mean we rarely see tragic events happening to the super rich and privileged in America. Look at how Porto Rico was treated after the hurricane destroyed the island? It was as if they weren't important enough to our country, it's shameful and embarrassing for citizens of the United States to be treated so poorly!  I wish our country was a level playing field, unfortunately, that's not the case.   I understand why people are unwilling to trust the government as they have proven time and time again, that the countries priorities lie with the greedy corporations and the rich.
