Entry #5 - Ducey

Investing in your citizens seems like a win-win for all involved. One would think Governor Duceys plan to invest an additional 180 million dollars shows his commitment to making sure people are getting the opportunity to have a better future by attaining a degree.  What strikes me as odd is the fact that he is concerned with people getting a higher education yet he is unwilling to give teachers (K-12) a pay raise.  Teachers in Arizona are some of the lowest paid in the country and the 1% raise that was proposed is a complete insult.  If teachers leave Arizona to take jobs in other states for more money it could potentially create a shortage of teachers, but can you blame them?   

"As governor, I am going to make sure Arizona is the best place to live, work and get an education. As a husband and a dad, I’m going to make sure that every family in Arizona can get one step closer to the American Dream."  I appreciate your enthusiasm Mr. Governer, but I am not sure I believe in what you are saying!!  Invest in your teachers who are teaching the children of Arizona and then work on your Achieve60AZ initiative.
